FRIA Approved!
We just received word that our FRIA application has been approved! A big thank you to the Academy of Model Aeronautics for assisting with these applications and shepherding them through the FAA process.
SAMs has applied for FRIA status for the club field. This means that when the Remote ID requirements come into full effect later this year, we will not have to use remote ID devices on our models while flying at SAMs. Further updates will be posted when the FAA updates our application.
The SAMs swap meet held on Memorial Day weekend was a big success. The weather was perfect, and the event had great participation. Many members picked up new planes, and the club raised some funds to help support us into the future. Well done to the event chair, Bill J. !

We are pleased to announce that our lease with the City of Sanford has been renewed for another five years, through June of 2029. We want to thank the City for being a great, supportive partner with SAMs, and we look forward to many more years of cooperation.
The club held a membership meeting at the field on 4/20/24. The meeting was called to order at 08:15 by club president Phill Spain.
